Overview – Preparation for Total Consecration New Edition

On February 25, I met with a number of local leaders of Consecration groups.  We gathered at the Montfort Center in Bay Shore, NY, for the first of what will likely become an ongoing series of gatherings of those who have been working with the promotion of St. Louis de Montfort’s spirituality of consecration.  During our time together I passed out draft copies of the revised edition of Preparation for Total Consecration and conducted a walk-through of the process outlined in the new book.

Fr. Pete generously set time aside to film the proceedings and produce a series of videos based on the day’s presentations.  We will be posting the videos here as they become available.  The following is the first video in the series:

  1. Peter says:

Father, when do you expect the new manual to be available for purchase?

I had started the process with the older manual to complete the Consecration on March 25th, but honestly after viewing the clips of the new manual I think I would like to defer it and prepare with the new manual at a later date. From what I see above, it seems so much more infused with the spirit and writings of Fr. de Montfort. I was struggling a bit with the Imitation of Christ excerpts as they didn’t seem as related … … Thank you for your all your hard work Father, it seems like this will be a great resource to reinvigorate the Consecration and further devotion to Jesus through Mary.

  2. Peter, we’re waiting on the local bishop to give his imprimatur to the work before going to print with it. Once we have that, we can have the new book available in a matter of a few weeks. However, we do not know exactly when we’ll be hearing back from the bishop.

My advice is to go ahead with the process with the intention of renewing it using the new book a few months down the road. This will give you the opportunity to explore living the consecration for a bit before moving into the preparation method and that, I suspect, might make for a richer engagement overall. I’ll be praying for you on the 25th.

  3. Peter says:

Thank you for the advice. I will go ahead with the Consecration on the 25th. I’ll be looking forward to going through it again with the new book later in the year. Your work is bearing fruit. May we all help bring about the Reign of Christ through Mary. Sedes Sapientiae, ora pro nobis.
